Royal Style Extravaganza

It was the royal wedding of our generation, a call for celebration and hope for millions watching around the world, as Prince William wed Catherine Middleton.

William and Kate's first kiss at the Royal Wedding

It seemed like every detail turned out to perfection! The dress was stunning, Kate was glowing but poised, William was a little nervous but dashing in his red regimentals, both clearly in love and very happy as they said their vows.

But it wasn’t only the foliage that made Westminster bloom! Almost 2,000 guests in their finest fashion ensembles filled the Abbey with smiles for the couple and those crazy hats and fascinators the British love so well! Phillip Tracy hats were most widely seen, and pale colors were a major trend on the guests. Along with many all-nude tones ensembles and nude shoes galore.

Royal wedding guests Beatrice and Eugenie wearing fascinators

The award for the two craziest hats has to go to Beatrice and Eugenie, first cousins to William and Harry and daughters of the Duke of York and Fergie (Sarah Ferguson, that is, not the singer!). The big purple rose and spiky feathers on Eugenie’s headgear are certainly outlandish, but Beatrice’s hat looks like it could be receiving alien signals!

Other notable guests included Elton John in a vivid purple tie, and the Beckhams, looking stylish as always.

Elizabeth II, aka The Queen

Her Majesty brings a bit of sunshine into an otherwise dreary London day with her elegant Angela Kelly crepe-wool primrose yellow number. What a ray of sunshine One is.

Princess Maxima

Princess Maxima of Netherlands was a picture of demure elegance in the wedding’s trendy colour of choice nude and her matching accessories.

Princess Letizia of Spain

Pretty in pink, Princess Letizia dazzled in a bandage dress by Felipe Varela teamed with matching shoes by Magrit and a charming cloche hat. Simple yet utterly a joy to behold.

Princess Marie Chantal, Greece

The Greek princess rocked in this season’s Chanel – a gray-lilac tweed dress with ‘spiderweb’ hand beaded embroidery.

Joss Stone

On paper, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a heat to toe colour blocked, Mad Men inspired pink and cute little peep holes. Perhaps, it’s the uncharacteristically ‘unbared’ feet or the lack of free flowing locks, on Joss Stone it is more blah than bang on the money.

Sally Bercow

Wrong on so many levels, with too high a split and too low a neckline… Sally love, do get some tips on wedding-appropriate attire from Princess Letizia of Spain.

Princess Victoria, Sweden

Just peachy… not! The Crown Princess of Sweden looks ready for the red carpet in this Ellie Saab number – just not sure if she is on the right red carpet.

Chelsea Davy-Girlfriend of Prince Harry

Possibly the most bedraggled of them all, Chelsey looks a sight in a 1980s two-piece which she may have picked up from her local Oxfam and hair which may have not seen the sight of a brush since around about the same time… Run Harry, run!
